Additional Research on Companies

After doing a Stock Selection Guide (SSG) and reading and analyzing the financial statements of a company's annual report, further research is needed. You need to gather information about the company's products, its competitors and the company's competitive position, and the industry itself. Read news releases about a company as well as analyst reports. Online resources are an excellent source for gathering the information. Most major companies have websites that feature an investor information section with press releases, financial statements, annual reports, and answers to frequently asked questions. Some examples of investor websites are Wal Mart (WMT), Microsoft (MSFT), and Pfizer (PFE).

Refer to the List of WebSites for additional sources of Investment Information to use in your research.
